Every year, on the fifth day of the fifth lunar month, people across China and around the world come together to celebrate the Dragon Boat Festival, also known as Duanwu Festival (端午节). The Legend Behind the Festival

The Dragon Boat Festival honors Qu Yuan, a loyal poet and minister from ancient China. When his homeland fell into ruin, Qu Yuan, in despair, drowned himself in the Miluo River. People, deeply moved by his loyalty and love for his country, raced out in boats to search for him and threw rice into the water to keep the fish away from his body. This story gave rise to two of the most beloved traditions of the festival: dragon boat racing and zongzi (sticky rice dumplings wrapped in bamboo leaves).

• Zongzi (粽子): These delicious sticky rice parcels, often filled with meats, nuts, or sweet bean paste, are enjoyed by families everywhere during the festival. Every region has its own special recipe, adding to the rich variety and personal touch of the celebration.
